BCUOMA Ambassadors onsite at Westshore Motorsports Park this weekend

Come visit the BCUOMA Community Engagement team at the Island Junk Solutions Total Destruction Night taking place this Saturday, August 13, 2022 from 4:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. at Westshore Motorsport Park located at 2207 Millstream Road, Victoria, B.C.

Will Burrows, BCUOMA Director of Consumer Collection & Sustainability, will be at the BCUOMA booth demonstrating how used oil and antifreeze products are collected and stored, and two BCUOMA ambassadors will also be available to answer questions regarding BCUOMA, the importance of used oil and antifreeze recycling, and how to find used oil recycling facilities across B.C.

“This Saturday’s Total Destruction Night at Westshore Motorsport Park will be an exciting event featuring the Demo Series, Claimers, Rollover Series, and Capital Drift. This is a great location for our BC Used Oil Management Association team to educate race fans on the importance of used oil recycling, as well as providing in-depth demonstrations on how used oil and antifreeze materials are collected at certified recycling centres,” said David Lawes, CEO, BC Used Oil Management Association.

“Our ambassadors will also be at our black and yellow booth highlighting the process of how used oil is re-refined into new oils, and available to answer questions regarding the free, safe, and convenient locations of used oil recycling centres across B.C. In addition, event attendees, drivers and crew can visit our booth and enter a draw to win some great prizes.”

Used oil is a valuable resource and if it is recycled at one of BCUOMA’s dedicated public recycling centres it can be recovered and re-used. Used oil can be re-refined into new lubricating oil or material inputs for manufacturing or energy products. Additionally, used oil filters contain metal, which is recycled into metal products like rebar, nails, and wire. Used oil and antifreeze containers are recycled and used to manufacture new oil containers, drainage tiles, and parking curbs. Used antifreeze is refined and reused as new automotive antifreeze.
