The BCUOMA Community Engagement Team is on the road and might be heading to an event near you! Our next stop is the European and German car show at the 2022 DAS Autoschau Weekend taking place this Sunday, July 17, 2022 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Kelowna City Park in the South Plaza – 1600 Abbott Street, Kelowna, B.C.
Two BCUOMA ambassadors will be on-site at the event educating participants and spectators on BCUOMA and the importance of used oil and antifreeze recycling, and how to find used oil recycling facilities across B.C.
“BC Used Oil Management Association is proud to be supporting this local Kelowna community event. Our knowledgeable and friendly BCUOMA ambassadors will be on-site at the DAS Autoschau car show all day, and available to speak with auto enthusiasts and the general public about the convenient, easy to use and free used oil and antifreeze recycling centres located across the province,” said David Lawes, CEO, BC Used Oil Management Association. “We invite event guests to stop by our yellow and black BCUOMA booth and ask our ambassadors questions they may have regarding the collecting, storing and recycling of our program materials. Guests are also invited to enter a draw at our booth to win various prizes.”

Used oil is a valuable resource and if it is recycled at one of BCUOMA’s dedicated public recycling centres it can be recovered and re-used. Used oil can be re-refined into new lubricating oil or material inputs for manufacturing or energy products. Additionally, used oil filters contain metal, which is recycled into metal products like rebar, nails, and wire. Used oil and antifreeze containers are recycled and used to manufacture new oil containers, drainage tiles, and parking curbs. Used antifreeze is refined and reused as new automotive antifreeze.
