Chetwynd Recyling & Bottle Depot gets an upgrade

Newly installed infrastructure at Chetwynd Recycling & Bottle Depot, located at 4824 54th Street NW in Chetwynd, will provide residents of the area, an easy, free and eco-friendly way to recycle their used oil and antifreeze materials.

Through the BC Used Oil Management Association grant program, the facility received a 20-foot modified sea container with a 2,200-litre tank to replace the outdated collection infrastructure. This new RCF will facilitate the responsible collection and management of used oil, antifreeze, filters and containers.

“Sally Paquette, the owner of Chetwynd Recycling & Bottle depot, is passionate about ensuring that her customers have a user-friendly and environmentally safe used oil recycling facility to return their used oil and antifreeze materials,” said David Lawes, CEO, BC Used Oil Management Association. “She reached out to BCUOMA and applied for a RCF infrastructure grant to upgrade her depot with a new sea can, a large 2,200-litre tank, and updated informational signage explaining how to properly recycling used oil and antifreeze. The residents of Chetwynd now have a new, free and easy-to-use recycling infrastructure to recycle their used materials.”

The RCF infrastructure grant program requires the responsible environmental handling, collection, transportation, storage, processing and recycling of used oil and antifreeze material using economic, efficient and environmentally acceptable options.

BCUOMA continues to look for opportunities to upgrade and improve recycling facility locations across the province in order to provide British Columbians with reasonable access to convenient and free used oil recycling centres.
